CARE GUIDE

Light

  • The Window Haworthia prefers partial shade, with bright and indirect sunlight.
  • It’s recommended to provide your succulents with 5-6 hours of natural light per day. Otherwise, provide supplementary light using a sun lamp.

Water

  • When you water your Window Haworthia, be sure to do so only when the soil is dry to the touch.
  • This succulent thrives in drier conditions, and like all Haworthia, it can survive a few days of neglect.
  • After watering, always make sure to let the soil drain completely before setting aside.

Temperature

  • Keep your Window Haworthia in warmer temperatures, around 60-70 degrees Fahrenheit.
  • This succulent is not frost hardy and will go dormant if temperatures reach below 40 degrees.

Soil

  • Porous, well draining soil is preferred for this succulent.
  • Modifying a traditonal cactus mix using perlite or pumice can help add extra drainage.

FAQ

Q. Is this plant toxic to humans and pets?

The Window Haworthia is not toxic to humans or animals, but it still shouldn’t be eaten! Always keep your plants away from hungry or curious animals, just to be safe.

Q. What are some common problems with the Window Haworthia?

The most common problems you’ll run into with your Window Haworthia stem from poor drainage. Root rot, shriveling or bloated leaves, and pests like fungal gnats are all common problems for a plant struggling with too much water in its system. To avoid this, consider repotting your succulent in a well-draining pot with modified soil.

Q. How do you pack the plants?

Your plant will be shipped bare-root in a sturdy box to ensure its safety. If you want to receive the plastic pot & soil, please leave a note in your order. When opening your package, some soil may be loose in the box.

If you live or have an order being shipped to a location with temperatures that reach below 40 degrees Fahrenheit, we strongly recommend purchasing a winter heat pack to ensure your plant(s) arrive safely and without damage caused by winter temperatures.

Q. What should I do after receiving my box?

If your succulents arrive potted with dry soil, you can leave the plants in the nursery pot and wait 2-3 days before watering them. When watering, please give them a good soak. If your succulents arrive potted with wet soil, the first thing you need to do is to check their leaves and roots' condition. If the succulents look overwatered (yellow, transparent, and soggy leaves), remove the soil from the succulents' root, and let them air dry for 1-2 days before re-potting it in a suitable pot. If the succulents look healthy, you can leave them in the nursery pots and water only when the soil is completely dry.
